12865 RECO [REG 26 JUN 91
I have laid before the Lords Commissioners of Her Majesty's Treasury Mr Meade's letter of the 15th instant, further respecting the question of subsidiary Coinage in Hong Kong.
In reply I am torequest you to inform Lord Knuts- ford that in writing Their letter of the 29th ultimo They had not overlooked the correspondence on this subject in 1887 and 1888 to which Mr Mende drave Their attention. Their object in referring to the subject again was to
suggest that the danger of Hong Kong being flooded with token coins from China should not be lost sight of, while the amount of subsidiary coinage in circulation is steadily increasing.
